Unless someone objects, I believe the party will continue down the stairs.

Let's go back to the closed door behind us. I don't want to let the enemy get behind us if we can help it.

Unable to stand the suspense, Ravna bounds forward excitedly.
"By the gods, there might be Draconian artifacts in here! Or mayhap remains!"

"Way to be a Draconian groupie, Ravna. That race was a one hit wonder and now they're all dead. I say we just follow our noses. Either direction will likely be filled with horror."

Tessa looks thoughtful as she tries not to touch any of the garbage. If the corpses of the ghouls we faced before were taken through that door, it is quite probable that something is in there still. I'd certainly feel better if whatever it is was dead before we climb any lower, but I will abide by the group's decision.

Oblivious, Ravna frolics down the stairwell.

As Ravna bounds down the stairs and turns around the passageway, the others can see the faint glow of the light of her Ioun Torch. The light is refracted and dimmed by the spell effect, but it is clearly getting dimmer as it moves further down the passage. New tab on the map, Floor 2.
RavnaAs you bound toward and down the stairs, you are startled somewhat, by the change passing through the spell effect. You are suddenly ensconced in a profound stillness. The ambient sounds of your partymates are gone, the gentle sound of breathing, the soft smacking of lips, the clank and clatter of arms and armor. Only the tinkling of your own vials and bottles, potions and poultices remain. The air itself seems instantly cleaner. Not fresh, by any standard, in fact the air is damp and stale, but it is without the oppressively pungent aroma of corpses. As you descend the stairs, you can see no light, other than your own. Glancing back, over your shoulder, you find only inky black fog. The stairway ends in a short narrow hall. Two doors flank the end of the hall. The walls and ceiling are coated in a think layer of cobwebs.

Rothgar sighs loudly as he goes after Ravna.
I guess we are going down the stairs.

The rest of party descends the stairs, passing through the end of the spell effect. At the bottom of the stairs they find Ravna, back to the party, impatiently bouncing on the balls of her feet. Beyond the spell effect, the air seems fresher, or at least less corpsey. The air is somewhat dank but earthy. It is stale and stagnant, but compared to the gut wrenching smell above, it is quite pleasant. The stairs end in a short, narrow hallway. At the end of which lie two doors. The floor is layered with dust and filth, the walls and ceiling are covered thickly with spiderwebs. For conceptual ease, Rothgar and Ravna are on the floor, and the rest of the party is on the stairs, single file. Surallel and Darvan, in the back, have cover from the hallway.DC 15 PerceptionYou can hear the muffled sounds of a conversation beyond the hallway, you think you would need to get closer to the end of the hallway to determine which direction the voice is coming from. A strange raspy voice speaking an unknown language. No return voice can be heard DC 20 PerceptionYou can clearly hear a voice in the next room, to the south. It speaks a strange language, but there is no return voice. You can very faintly hear some odd clicking and tapping sounds, seemingly in response to the voice.

1d20+9 1d20+7 1d20+7 As Rothgar walks past Ravna. He notices a very thin line across the floor. A stray strand of spider webbing, at first glance. He pauses a moment, and follows the line to a strange mechanism on the wall, from the mechanism, lines branch and weave across the ceiling, barely noticeable. Each of these strands is connected to tiny bits of wood or bone. For a moment, Rothgar ponders the strange apparatus, then it hits him, its a trap! Likely, if the tripwire along the ground is disturbed, the small braces in the ceiling would give way. 1d20+7·1d20+9·1d20+7·1d20+7

Those who succeeded on the Perception checksAs Rothgar gingerly walks up, the voice in the next room continues to speak, but is then abruptly cut off, mid-sentence, with an audible grunt. DC 15 Lingustics or Intelligence check (Ravna gets a +2 bonus)The voice was speaking in Undercommon. While you cannot make out the words, you can recognize the language. Undercommon is very rarely encountered on the surface world. It is spoken by the denizens of the Underdark. Dwarven tunnel scouts will occasionally encounter creatures in the deep with the intelligence to speak, but few surface dwellers descend deep enough to encounter them. Undercommon shares many similarities with the dwarven language, owing perhaps to a common root language.
