Hello and welcome to all. This is The Gallant Contest. I am the Supreme Master of All and I shall be your guide into the wonderful and whimsical world of our own imaginations. This will be a game of firsts. This is the first time I have run an online game, first time running a homebrew game, and the first time running a game in this homebrew world. If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

So the party is shaping up. As of now. We have a old elf Sorcerer, a foxy bard, hideous Human Monk (put the bunny down Lenny), A Druid/Alchemist/Cleric, and a trapper fighter who will disarm traps with his face. Assuming i read and understood everyone's threads correctly

One thing i would Like everyone to do. Once you have a name for your character, please change your display name to that name.

I have put the link to the Treasure Calculator in my signature line. Whenever the part finds treasure I will add it to the calculator, but I will not assign ownership. That is for you guys to handle.
For some reason, I cannot share the calculator with anyone right now. I will have that fixed before the main story arc gets started.

Also, I have been putting pictures in some of the threads to represent speakers. They are meant as approximations of the characters, so there may be some conflicts between my descriptions and the pictures. The Only exception is the picture of Sembo Tery in Rothgar's backstory. I found that picture and based the Sembo on it, rather than the other way around.
Clicking on the picture should bring up a full sized picture, if you want to see more details.

A question for those with more experience running campaigns than I do. When factoring wealth and finding items. Do you use half the item's cost, assuming the party will sell it or do you use it full market value? For example. The market value for a +1 longsword is 1315g, does the party gain 657g 5s, or 1315g?
When trying to figure out WBL I don't want you guys to lag behind, or jump ahead.

When I did homebrew games in the past, I used Market value and try to somewhat build treasure for things the party would like.

I want to make a special note of how i intend to run initiative and monster lore checks. So we can deal with any problems or issues here rather than when the main story gets started.
When the fight music starts, I will ask everyone to roll initiative. Roll your d20 in a post with your modifier. I will roll secretly for the enemies. After everyone rolls, I will set the initiative lineup, and post that for everyone. It will include all known (or soon to be known) enemies, more to speed up the game. That way you guys don't have to wait for me to tell you when your turn is up, if at all possible try not to abuse that bit of meta knowledge.
When I ask for initiative, I will also include whatever knowledge skill(s) required to identify the creature you guys fight. If you wish to try and identify the creature, include your knowledge roll with your initiative roll. When I release the initiative lineup, I will include personal spoiler tags with the information you got based on your roll. As per the rules, you will need to wait for your turn to give any information to your party. One slight deviation: Each character can speak one-word before their turn. For example: Run! Charge! Wait! SHIT! The idea being, that it is a sudden excited utterance, you won't be able to give any useful information like the enemies resistances or special attacks, but hopefully you can prevent the impetuous high initiative party members from throwing fireballs at the Red Dragon (which is immune to fire).

I have put new items in the News Feed. They contain the headlines of important stories centered in in the human lands. As the game goes on, I will change the headlines. Occasionally they will contain information that is useful to the party, sometimes it will not. The importance of the news depends on what you guys end up doing. Where you go, who you meet, what horrific crimes you commit, ect ect. Some of the News is meant to give more depth to the world, and will have virtually no direct impact on your adventure
Depending on where the story originated, it might be difficult for anyone to find more information, but whenever you go to a large population center someone can do a Diplomacy (Gather Information) to try and find more information.
