Quietly to his companion, Darvan says, "Easy Rothgar. We are making it nervous." Darvan steps into the doorway "Hello Kante. I Darvan," he says while patting his hand to his chest. "We did not mean to startle you. You are looking for Thax? Sorry, we do not know him. We are looking for someone ourselves. Have you seen any like us?" Darvan speaks slowly and tries to enunciate clearly to facilitate the creature's understanding.

 The creature stares closely at all the visible party members. Careful to keep his distance from the party. No. None like you. He looks at closely at Surallel. He points lazily at Surallel. He like bossman. Bossman not here. Far away, in tunnel. He indicates the hole in the wall. Here, just Thax, me and the bad guys. Maybe, your friends up the stair? Thax says 'don't go up stairs' so I don't go. I just make sure bad guys do run back to tunnel. Keep them out of here, away from stairs. Put up best traps. The creature stands tall when he mentions his traps. He also holds up the spears, spears which appear to be intended for a new trap. |

SurallelThough not live, the creature is clearly holding the makings of a trap. Apart from that, you do not notice any other traps.

They must be very good traps. We saw the bad guys before, and only the best traps would keep such things out. Tessa smiles sweetly at Kante. We need to talk to your bossman, we have important stuff to tell him, but maybe you could show us your traps first? Do you have any in here?

Thax know him, he pay Thax when we take bad guys back. He holds up the bundle of spears and webbing Only trap here. Still working on it. Got the trigger finished. He walks up to the doorway, right in front of Rothgar. Then he crouches next to a thin strand of spider silk. He strums it. No worry, not finished yet. When done. Bad guys walk in, step on trigger, then all these fly out, skewer them all. Only Thax and me know......and you, so be careful. |

We will be careful Kante, thank you. Tessa gestures toward the tunnel. Would you mind if we go in? As I said before, we need to talk to your bossman. It is very important. I don't want to take you away from your trap making, since I know how important it is for you to keep the bad guys in, so we can find the way by ourselves if we may pass.

 The creature looks confused for a second. ummmmm, I guess its ok. Bossman is through there, He points at the hole. but he long way. Took us weeks to get here, tracking little guys. Thax good at that. We track them here, Thax say 'they trapped, no path down, only way is up'. He wanted this done, so I finish. The creature returns to his seat in the corner and resumes his work. His large claws moving with surprising skill and delicacy as he weaves his silk through the spears. |

Darvan addresses the party, "I see no reason we should continue here. It sounds like his boss has nothing to do with the magic at work here, and we don't quite have the time to search the underground for weeks. I say we proceed back up to the floor above and continue our search there."
